Lahore: The Punjab government plans to train local labour to find jobs in different sectors so that they can work in a variety of projects, including those launched under the umbrella of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, a news source reported. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Industries Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal at the Civil Secretariat.<\/p>\n
The officials agreed that policies should be developed to protect the interests of the local labour community and enhance their capacity. The provincial government will also hold consultations with the CPEC Authority and relevant agencies for this purpose.<\/p>\n
The training would provide much needed skilled labour for the industries that are to be set up through foreign investment under CPEC.<\/p>\n
Outlining the government\u2019s plans, the minister said that the local labour will be provided with necessary training in collaboration with the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA). Training institutes will be established within special economic zones under this project.
