The information was shared with the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Water Resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/ecnec-approves-dasu-hydropower-12-other-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ECNEC approves Dasu Hydropower, 12 other projects<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Earlier,\u00a0Upper Kohistan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamidur Rehman had revealed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)\u00a0government\u00a0had\u00a0approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/new-rates-approved-for-dasu-projects-land-acquisition-kohistan-dc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new prices\u00a0for acquiring land<\/a> and houses to construct the Dasu hydropower\u00a0project.<\/p>\n<p>Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur chaired a meeting of the NA\u2019s standing committee. The meeting took notice of the hurdles impeding the land-acquisition process, reviewed the implementation status of the committee\u2019s earlier recommendations and discussed water distribution and shortage issues in the provinces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/aiib-invited-to-invest-in-dasu-mohmand-dams.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AIIB invited to invest in Dasu, Mohmand Dams<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Water &amp; Power Development Authority (WAPDA) member Zahid Khan Durrani told the NA panel that the authority would provide the additional funds of PKR 18 billion for the project from its own equity. He added that a senior member of\u00a0KP&#8217;s\u00a0Board of Revenue (BoR) had previously stated that the district administration would complete the land-acquisition process for priority areas within six months of the ECNEC\u2019s approval of the cost revisions. These priority areas span over 1,247 acres.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Water Resources Secretary Muhammad Ashraf informed the panel that the Council of Common Interest (CCI) had already given its approval to the water policy implementation in April 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/remove-all-hurdles-in-the-way-of-dasu-power-project-faisal-vawda.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Remove all hurdles in the way of Dasu Power Project\u00a0&#8211; Faisal Vawda<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Under this policy, Ashraf added, the government would enhance the country\u2019s water storage capacity to an additional 10 million acre feet (MAF) by 2030, whereas the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/diamer-bhasha-mohmand-dams-to-be-completed-by-2020.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams<\/a> following their construction completion will store 7.1 MAF of water.
