Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday inaugurated the Havelian-Thakot section of the Hazara Motorway, according to a news source. As per officials, this initiative forms part of the overarching China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC<\/a>) project framework and will be an important junction of the Karakoram Highway following its completion.<\/p>\n

This part of the highway consists of two sections: the first one stretching from Havelian to North Abbotabad (27.425 kilometres) and the second one going from North Abbotabad to Mansehra (11.880 kilometres).<\/p>\n

This section consists of three interchanges, two tunnels, four toll stations, 12 flyovers, 47 bridges, and 143 underpasses. The aim of this project is to promote the development of the domestic economy and to boost infrastructural development in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Addressing the ceremony, PM Khan said that this motorway would play an integral part in the progress of the CPEC initiative.
