Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has begun preparations for a proposal to replace the decades old sewerage system<\/a> that is still being utilized in Gulberg, a news source reported. As per the publication, the estimated cost of the project will amount to PKR 4 billion.<\/p>\n

In order to initiate development of the project, the authority would be required to dig-up all main boulevards and roads in the Gulberg area so as to lay the new sewerage lines. These locations include the Main Boulevard Gulberg, Ghalib Market, Mini Market, Qaddafi Stadium, Liberty Market and other roads connected to these areas. In addition, WASA will also construct a temporary disposal station on land near IT Tower on Ferozepur Road. The project will soon be presented before the Lahore Development Authority (LDA)\u2019s governing body meeting for approval.<\/p>\n

As per the proposal, the disposal station on Ferozepur Road will help dump Gulberg\u2019s sewerage water in Hudiara Drain. A permanent disposal station will, however, be constructed on Lahore Ring Road, on an area measuring 373 kanals. This spot will have the capacity to drain 2,000 cusec of water, and once it is completed, the temporary station will be made defunct.<\/p>\n
