Islamabad: The country\u2019s leading tax associations, including the Pakistan Tax Advisers Association (PTAA), have requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to provide an extension in the deadline for filing tax returns, a news source reported. The current deadline<\/a> set by the FBR for filing returns and submitting wealth statements for the year 2019 is November 30. These concerned parties want the deadline to be extended till December 31.<\/p>\n

PTAA Chairman Javed Iqbal Qazi said that despite the untiring efforts of tax practitioners, accountants and advocates, the targets set by the FBR have not been met. He said that the number of returns filers was increasing on a daily basis so the board should consider giving the process more time.<\/p>\n

According to the PTAA, only 1.5 million returns have been filed up till now while the target was 2.5 million. Tax advisers have been unable to complete their task up to 50% in majority of the cases, so the board should allot more time.<\/p>\n
