Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior on Friday directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to verify alleged accounts of by-law violations in the construction of several Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF) apartments situated in Sector I-12<\/a> of the capital city, according to a news source.<\/p>\n

Further, the committee meeting, chaired by Senator Abdul Rehman Malik, directed the agency officials to expedite the investigation proceedings against the managements of three private housing societies.<\/p>\n

PHAF is a subunit of the Ministry of Housing and Works and is currently developing 3,200 apartments in Sector I-12<\/a>; which is owned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The civic agency maintains that the apartments are being developed in violation of its bylaws.<\/p>\n

According to the CDA officials, PHAF started the project development without getting possession of the site or getting the building plans approved. The department in its working paper claimed that these complications had delayed the finalization of I-12\u2019s layout plan.<\/p>\n

In response, the committee directed FIA to look into the issue and submit its report. The agency was also directed to present a report on contract award for Sector E-11 development to a private firm.<\/p>\n
