Islamabad: The federal cabinet has approved a provisional report<\/a>\u00a0submitted by the federal commission tasked with making revisions to the capital city\u2019s master plan \u2013 a news source reported. Previously, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board had also provided its sanction to the said draft.<\/p>\n

As per details, the revisions will now be made part of the civic agency\u2019s building bylaws, planning rules and parameters. The notification for these new bylaws will be issued soon. According to these rules, high-rise building developments will be encouraged in the Blue Area and Mauve Area. These laws will also allow an increase in the floor-area percentage for buildings.<\/p>\n

It is for the first time bylaws have been made to construct buildings on the Islamabad Expressway, Murree Road, Lehtrar Road, Fateh Jang Road, Park Road, and GT Road. High-rise buildings will also be encouraged in those areas but only after conditionalising them with traffic movement and environmental pollution.<\/p>\n

The new bylaws also make it easier for private housing societies to acquire NOCs. The requirement for consolidated land has been reduced to 200 kanals instead of 400 kanals<\/a>.
