Islamabad: A project plan to develop a circular ring road, similar to the Rawalpindi Ring Road<\/a> (RRR) model, has been drafted for Islamabad, a news source reported. As per the draft proposed, the construction of this 30-kilometre-long Islamabad Ring Road project is estimated to cost PKR 7 billion.<\/p>\n

Subject to approval, the project is expected to be launched in the beginning of 2020. As per the proposal, the ring road will reach Pakistan Secretariat through Sangjani, while heading from Shah Allah Ditta, Margalla Road, and Sector F to reach Bhara Kahu and Kallar Syedan. The road connecting GT Road with Margalla is expected to be 10 kilometres in length.<\/p>\n

The proposed ring road project will ease traffic flow from Gilgit Baltistan and Hazara and become the new intercity road for Islamabad. In addition, it will solve traffic issues caused by the movement of heavy traffic in the city. As per the plan, the heavy traffic to and from the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) and the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) will pass through the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) and the proposed Islamabad Ring Road.<\/p>\n
