Lahore: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has announced its decision to open the recently-discovered royal chambers \u2013 which had remained hidden for centuries (in addition to their carried artefacts and other remains) \u2013 located within the precincts of Shahi Qila<\/em> (Lahore Fort) to the public, according to news sources.<\/p>\n

Further, the authority has commenced with the restoration of Shahi Qila\u2019s Hamam<\/em> (bath house); which was constructed during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Akbar-e-Azam. Following the completion of the renovation work <\/a>\u2013 currently being pursued by the Archaeology Department of the Punjab University as well as international experts \u2013 people will be able to see the ancient relics.<\/p>\n

WCLA has also reported on its discovery of a series of tunnels in a recent dig under the basement of Diwan-e-Aam; along with many antique utensils near the eastern side of the fort. The Hamam was discovered last year.<\/p>\n

WCLA Director Conservation Najm-us-Saqib announced that the arsenal, royal bath house and fort kitchen would be opened for to tourists. He called the structure to be one-of-a-kind in the world, as it was shaped by various emperors.<\/p>\n
