Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Ring Road project will start from the Radio Pakistan Building on GT Road and end at Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) instead of the previously announced<\/a> point near a private housing scheme in the neighbourhood, a news source quoted Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (rtd.) Mohammad Mehmood.<\/p>\n

The commissioner shared this information while addressing a meeting held in his office yesterday (December 26). Notable officials from the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) also attended this meeting, including \u00a0Director General Ammara Khan and Development Director Nazia Parveen, as well as representatives from National Engineering Services of Pakistan and related departments.<\/p>\n

Earlier in November, the Government of Punjab announced that the project\u2019s length will be reduced<\/a> from 54 kilometres to 35 kilometres. As per the information shared by Commissioner Mehmood, the 38.5-kilometre circular road will be completed in two phases. The project is estimated to cost PKR 44 billion.<\/p>\n

As per the latest plans approved by the provincial government, the RRR will have five interchanges. Construction work on the project is planned to begin in March 2020<\/a>. Meanwhile, work is underway on the preparation of RRR\u2019s PC-1. Funds for the project will be allocated after this PC-1 is completed.<\/p>\n
