Islamabad: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday announced that the bureau had recorded unprecedented recoveries<\/a> worth PKR 150 billion in the last year (2019), according to news sources.<\/p>\n

The chairman made this revelation during a meeting of prominent NAB officials. During the session, Director General (Operations) NAB Zahir Shah informed the attendees that the authority had received 51,591 complaints, out of which it had managed to resolve 46,123, with 13,299 additional complaints currently being processed.<\/p>\n

In 2019, NAB approved 1,464 complaints, of which 1,362 were scrutinized closely and the remaining 770 complaints were in the process of being resolved. The authority okayed 574 inquiries, completed 658 inquiries, launched 221 investigations and was processing 217 investigations by the end of the year. A total of 206 references were filed in the accountability courts nationwide, and decisions were made on 161 of them.<\/p>\n

The meeting was also informed that the accountability court has filed around 600 references and recovered PKR 178 million in the last 27 months.<\/p>\n

The chairman lauded the performance of NAB in 2019 and instructed the officials to finalise inquiries and investigations in a timely manner.
