{"id":59443,"date":"2020-01-05T10:00:12","date_gmt":"2020-01-05T05:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/blog\/?p=59443"},"modified":"2020-01-03T18:06:48","modified_gmt":"2020-01-03T13:06:48","slug":"sbp-asked-divest-hbfc-shareholdings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/sbp-asked-divest-hbfc-shareholdings.html","title":{"rendered":"SBP asked to divest its HBFC shareholdings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad: The federal government has asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to divest all of its shares in the House Building Finance Company (HBFC) in an effort to facilitate the proposed privatisation of the housing finance firm, a news source reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/sbp-incur-online-tax-payments-fee.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SBP to incur online tax payments fee<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Privatisation Commission Board had approved the hiring of MCB Bank, Elixir Securities Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, EY Ford Rhodes, and Haidermota &amp; Co (sub-contractor) as the financial advisors for HBFC\u2019s privatisation.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2019, the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation had directed the Privatisation Commission to add HBFC in its active list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/pm-directs-timely-privatisation-govt-institutions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">privatisation <\/a>programme. The Finance Division also gave its approval for this measure.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the Privatisation Commission designed a plan to sell 100% shares in HBFC, along with its management control, to a strategic investor. This required SBP to divest its shares in HBFC worth 90.31% of the total shareholding.
