Karachi: Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered the transport ministry to complete the Orange Line project within three months, according to news sources. He has also directed the ministry to prepare the tenders for the Red Line project, in order to hold its ground-breaking ceremony on August 14.<\/p>\n

The CM was presiding over a meeting at his residence to review the progress of the aforementioned projects when he passed these directives.<\/p>\n

Provincial Transport Minister Awais Shah informed the meeting that the development work of the Orange Line project was almost complete. During the session, he was instructed by the CM to finalise the project in the coming three months and procure a fleet of 25 buses for its initial, operational stage; who further stressed that only the finest buses should be procured.<\/p>\n

The CM also instructed the transport ministry to collaborate with Green Line project administration to ensure that the vehicles were of uniform capacity and design. Moreover, he asked the ministry to get into a facilitation-and-implementation agreement with the project administration.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, the Green Line project will be administrated by the federal government<\/a> for three years, after which its operation will be handed over to the provincial government.<\/p>\n

The CM revealed that he had already approved a sum of PKR 962 million for the development of an underpass and mezzanine flooring at the Numaish intersection area.<\/p>\n

CM Murad also instructed the transport department to shift the truck stand to the Northern Bypass from its current location at Mauripur, and to oversee the transfer of 100 acres of land from the Board of Revenue for the construction of an intercity bus terminal on Superhighway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
