Hyderabad: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has given the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA)\u2019s Hyderabad chapter a February 29 deadline to clear 1,577 pending complaints and application requests, a news source reported.<\/p>\n

Justice Nadeem Akhtar and Justice Adnanul Karim Memon conducted the hearing of a petition seeking the demolition of a commercial structure constructed on a residential plot in Bhai Khan Area of City Taluka.<\/p>\n

The court received a briefing that SBCA\u2019s Hyderabad Chapter had 1,577 complaints and applications pending \u2013 mostly pertaining to commercial buildings, and some cases dating back to 2010. The court has now ordered the authority to decide all pending applications, cases of proposed and completion plans, regularisation, and cases of any other type by February 29.<\/p>\n

Further, the SHC ordered SBCA to adopt the method of resolving applications within 30 days of receiving them. The court warned that it would hold the authority\u2019s regional director for Hyderabad personally responsible in case of non-compliance with this order.<\/p>\n

The court has also sought periodic compliance reports from SBCA on January 15, January 30, February 15, and February 29.<\/p>\n
