Islamabad: Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) Shoaib Ahmed Siddique on Wednesday inaugurated the Digital Pakistan Internship Portal, a first for the country, in a local hotel in the city, a news source reported. The portal has been launched with an aim to facilitate the growth of the IT sector<\/a> by linking it with the academic community for the purposes of solving problems and systematising the hiring of interns by the companies engaged in the sector.<\/p>\n

The state of art portal is expected to provide the IT companies with a platform to post problems online, which can then be reviewed by university professors and IT graduates who can then work directly with the companies concerned to come up with practical solutions.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the ceremony, secretary Siddique said that the youth population of the country had an important role to play in nation building and the present government was committed to enrich the IT industry by engaging this community. In addition, he said that the portal concerned would help identify young talent and remove blockades that slow down the progress of the IT industry.<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) also took the opportunity to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with E-commerce Gateway and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at the occasion.
