The delegation sought assurances from the PM that the SBP would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/icci-requests-reduction-interest-rate.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"reduce the interest rate (opens in a new tab)\">reduce the interest rate<\/a> to help businesses grow. SBP Governor Reza Baqir was also present at the occasion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PM Khan took the opportunity to voice his hope that the\ninterest rates would be lowered to help the business community and the\ncountry\u2019s economy; especially considering that the meeting took place a day\nbefore the SBP\u2019s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) was to announce the interest\nrate for the next two months. While Governor Baqir did not reveal any\ninformation pertaining to any changes to the interest rate, he did state that\nthe ongoing economic reforms being implemented by the government were already beginning\nto show positive results. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PM requested the business community to cooperate in order to give hope to the nation\u2019s citizens. They further informed PM Khan about the non-availability of gas, and hikes in power and gas tariffs, which were causing exports to suffer.
