Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP<\/a>) for the development of several sustainable urbanisation projects in the city, according to news sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the new agreement, the two institutes will regularly consult and exchange information about urbanisation challenges faced by the city. The agreement also seeks to involve the private sector and formulate urban solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To expedite the sustainable urbanization projects in Rawalpindi, both parties will also partake in \u2018Rawalpindi Urban Platform\u2019. To this effect, RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza stated that the partnership with UNDP will assist in research and formulating strategies to resolve the issues of the traffic woes in Raja Bazaar, encroachments and preservation of heritage sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
