Karachi: The federal government has announced its decision to revise the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT<\/a>) development plan in an effort to conserve the ancient tree plantations located along the project’s previously decided route, according to a news source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this revision, the authorities will manage to protect\n26 tree plantations near the Radio Pakistan building situated on the MA Jinnah\nRoad, in addition to transplanting 69 trees in a different location. The\nfederal and provincial governments have reached a consensus on this plan, and\nwill recommence with the work accordingly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with this latest development, the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) has called for tenders to lay down Phase II of the Green Line BRT. This phase spans from Taj Medical Complex to Jama Cloth Market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIDCL Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Bilal Memon stated that the federal body has floated the relevant tenders to initiate this phase of the project. He added that the revised design will save all 95 trees on the BRT route, and that funds have already been allocated to move 69 additional tree plantations to be replanted in other locations. These trees include Indian lilacs, banyans, lignums, and sacred figs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
