In this regard, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has made some requests to the federal government and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/construction-sector-gets-historic-relief-package.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Construction sector gets \u2018historic\u2019 relief package; CGT, source of income conditions revoked (opens in a new tab)\">Construction sector gets \u2018historic\u2019 relief package; CGT, source of income conditions revoked<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SRB has made the following propositions for the construction industry revival:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Exempt cement, paints, riles, sanitary products\n&amp; fittings, and mild steel products from sales tax<\/li><li>Exempt imported construction machinery from\nsales tax and customs duty<\/li><li>Exempt immovable property-related activities\nfrom withholding tax, capital gains tax, and advance income tax<\/li><li>Abolishing FBR\u2019s valuation tables pertaining to\nimmovable properties<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In relation to adopting the Punjab government\u2019s model of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/forum\/discussions\/construction_and_materials\/sindh_also_seeks_measures_for_revival_of_construction_industry-33124.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">construction industry revival<\/a>, SRB has requested the exemption of Sindh Sales Tax (SST) on construction services for a period of three months \u2013 until June 30. Furthermore, it has asked for continued implementation of SST on property developers at prescribed specific rates \u2013 PKR 50 per square yard of land and PKR 100 per square yard of constructed area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SRB officials said that the exemption might be restricted to services of registered persons. The\nauthority indicated that if exemption of SST was allowed, the provincial\ngovernment might seek a compensation from the federal government through a\nspecial grant to cover loss of revenue in Sindh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Karachi Chamber of Commerce &amp; Industry (KCCI)\nPresident Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan has asked the SRB to suspend the collection of\nall types of taxes for the next four to six months.
