Karachi: Various associations of small traders have requested the Sindh government to allow the resumption of their business activity thrice a week; further stating that the going closure of their operations in not economically feasible, according to news sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives of several trade associations held a meeting with the officials concerned at the provincial secretariat, where they presented their proposal to reopen markets in the province under social distancing and hygiene guidelines prescribed by the government. They maintained that for the sake of the livelihood of hundreds of people, the limited reopening of the markets was essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the representatives also said that the government should introduce standard operating procedures (SOPs<\/a>) for markets to allow them to operate on a limited, daily basis. Another representative expressed concern that prolonged lockdown in the markets and over business activities could result in massive unemployment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trade representatives stated that\nfull revival of the business activities could not be pursued at the moment;\nhence a gradual strategy should be adopted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
