Lahore: The Punjab government has stated that the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) operations and streetlights in every divisional headquarter would be powered by solar energy, a newspaper reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting in Civil Secretariat in which the provincial secretary for energy briefed the CM about ongoing and completed energy projects in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CM Buzdar directed the officials concerned to reduce the number of bulbs in government buildings in order to reduce electricity cost and provided his approval to a solar system project for 50 to 100 households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, he approved the upgradation of a solar wall project in Kala Shah Kaku. It was also informed that the Centre of Renewable Solar Energy Training Centre in Bahawalpur <\/a>and Solar Centre of Excellence for Solar Testing and Training in Multan would also be established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buzdar said that the government planned to salvage electricity-producing units from losses and make them beneficial. He also said that standard building code would be implemented strictly to save electricity. In three villages, hydropower systems run by bio and solar energy will be installed.
