Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has initiated the renovation and restoration work of a historical bridge located over the main railway track that connects the cantonment<\/a> area with different parts of the city in a bid to preserve it, according to news sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department initiated the project to utilise the opportunity offered by the partial lockdown implemented countrywide, along with suspension of train operations to renovate the old bridge to its past glory. The now-dilapidated, 135-year-old truss iron bridge is located near Rawalpindi Railway Station and the Pakistan Army\u2019s Transit Camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divisional Superintendent Syed Munawar Shah said that the renovation project will be completed before Eid-ul-Fitr. He further went on to say that the bridge will be painted over to prevent additional rusting and the bridge road will also be reconstructed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
