Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday approved lifting the restrictions imposed \u2013 in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic \u2013 on the national tourism industry during the latest National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting, according to news sources. Khan further revealed that a number of anti-COVID standard operating procedures (SOPs<\/a>) for regulating tourism would also soon be issued to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The premiere said that the decision to revive the sector is to support the people associated with it so they can get back to their jobs. He said that the summer months are ideal for tourism influx and if the lockdown remains in places, the people who rely on this industry will starve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the said NCC meeting also took the decision to further ease the lockdown throughout the country. Khan revealed that imposition of a stricter lockdown will contribute to the miseries of over 150 million Pakistanis and will render over 25 million informal labourers jobless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
