Lahore: The All Pakistan Kiln Owners Association (APKOA) Lahore Division has demanded the government to announce a relief package for kiln owners suffering from the inflation caused by the anti-COVID-19 lockdown, a news source reported. In order to move the government to fulfill their demands, the association formed an action committee spearheaded by the APKOA Member Muhammad Zubair who said that the kiln industry in Pakistan is currently at the verge of destruction due to unexpected rain spells, the government-imposed ban to control smog in the country and the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current financial situation of these owners does not allow them to bear the additional expenses required to convert their existing set up to zigzag technology \u2013 a mandatory requirement in place to control the increasing levels of environment pollution in the country, said the speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting members were informed that the association also held talks with the government over seeking subsidy on converting their set up to the environment-friendly zigzag technology. Furthermore, the association demanded the government to form a commission to address concerns of the people associated with the kiln industry.
