Karachi: The Sindh government on Thursday imposed a rain emergency in six districts of the city amid fears of urban flooding, a news source reported. According to details, Local Government (LG) Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh imposed the emergency in view of getting the nullahs<\/em> across the city clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a meeting on the matter, the secretary also approved setting up district-level coordination committees for overseeing all measures required to deal with the rain emergency in all six districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Providing his approval to the utilisation of funds for a World Bank (WB) project<\/a>, the secretary said that under this project, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would clean the nullahs<\/em>. He added that the process of cleaning the stormwater drains in Karachi would begin in five to six days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
