Lahore: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General (GD) Tariq Ali Basra on Wednesday (July 8) directed the authority\u2019s directors in all city zones to identify areas for setting up seven Miyawali-inspired urban forests, a news source reported. Plantation work is currently underway in two urban forests in the city, located at Liberty Market<\/a> and Block C – Faisal Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DG gave these directives while presiding over a meeting in Jilani Park for setting up urban forests in Lahore. PHA directors representing seven zones of Lahore attended the meeting. DG Basra instructed the directors to identify suitable land for the project in their respective zones, and submit a report as soon as possible. The PHA plans on initiating the plantation drive for the proposed urban forests during the upcoming monsoon season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the PHA DG further mentioned that the planned forests would feature local plants to ensure their healthy growth. Reportedly, saplings of these fruit-bearing and shady trees are already available in PHA nurseries.
