Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) managed to increase its tax collection by 65% during the previous (Fiscal Year) FY2019-2020<\/a>; when contrasted with earlier statistics, according to a news source. During FY2018-19, it had collected PKR 10.41 billion in taxes; however, during the last fiscal year, this number had increased to PKR 17.20 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the KPRA has set a tax collection target of PKR 20 billion for FY2020-2021, and is aiming to surpass this goal as well. The authority shared this information in a meeting held on Wednesday chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan. Provincial Minister Finance Taimur Jhagra, Secretary Finance Atif-ur-Rehman, and Director General KPRA Fayyaz Ali Shah were also present at this meeting, among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The members received a briefing where the authority gave an overview of its performance, goals, proposed legal\/administrative reforms, sectoral\/functional expansions of its functions, and the steps undertaken to facilitate taxpayers, etc. In addition, they were told that the KPRA had collected 50% of the province\u2019s total taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
