Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated work to finalise the alignment of the proposed south-eastern bypass between Bhara Kahu and Rawat<\/a>, according to a news story published on September 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this particular project, the military\u2019s Engineer-in-Chief branch is cooperating with the CDA to finalise the design and alignment of the bypass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the details available, the CDA was given a presentation by the military\u2019s Engineer-in-Chief branch on Monday to propose the final alignment of the road. The CDA official termed this meeting an initial presentation \u2014 with the finer details of the project yet to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 40-kilometre-long and 600 ft wide bypass road is expected to start at Rawat, and will be linked to the Murree Road near Bhara Kahu. It will also cross through the Defense Housing Authority (DHA)\u2019s developments in Nilor and Tumair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the south-eastern bypass project has been completed, it is expected to significantly alleviate the traffic burden on the Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and other thoroughfares in the area. The Zone-IV and V \u2014 the location for numerous housing projects of the city \u2014 will also use the road in order to reduce congestion on the capital city\u2019s roads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
