Rawalpindi: The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department (ETNCD) has announced its decision to launch a crackdown against property tax defaulters from October 1 onwards, according to a news source. The deadline to submit property tax<\/a> for fiscal year 2019-20, as communicated by the department, expires on September 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to sources within the Excise Department, those who will not clear their property tax by the communicated deadline will be issued show-cause notices. Right after dispatching the notices, the department will launch the crackdown. Under this crackdown, the department will seal properties of the tax defaulters and also issue their arrest warrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provincial government has given major concession on property tax and also announced to postpone the upward revision in valuation tables. This is in addition to reduction in stamp duty and various other perks the federal and provincial governments offered to people post the lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources claim that so far, 30% property owners have clear their dues and in order to recover the money from defaulters, a mega crackdown will be launched starting the day after the deadline expires.
