Lahore: The Energy Department is considering to review its policy on provision of electric connections to unapproved colonies in a bid to extend its availability to the katchi abadis<\/em> and other remote areas still without power, a news source reported on September 30. Minister for Energy Akhtar Malik has directed the officials concerned to establish a policy on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A three-member committee comprising officials from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and the Energy Department has been formed for the purpose of formulating the new policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, LESCO has also provided the requisite details for areas still without electricity to the department. According to these details, in LESCO\u2019s 7 circles, 490 unapproved housing schemes do not have electricity whereas the residents have repeatedly submitted applications for electricity connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
