Peshawar: The federal government has announced its decision to invest PKR 15 to PKR 20 billion in the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) for the provision of uninterrupted power supply <\/a>to the provincial capital and its suburbs, according to a news source published on October 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly, the newly-proposed scheme involves the development of several new grid stations, the installation of power transmission lines, and the bifurcation of feeders in Peshawar and its surrounding areas. This announcement was made after a high-level meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was informed that a project management unit will be established in PESCO with the representation of the provincial government \u2014 with this measure aimed at ensuring the timely execution of the power transmission project. Moreover, PESCO was asked to devise and submit a comprehensive plan regarding the execution of the project within two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was further briefed regarding the progress made on various other projects, including the development of 132-KV grid stations on Warsak Road and Regi Model Town.
