Islamabad: While chairing a high-level meeting to review the projects launched under the Karachi Transformation Plan<\/a>, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday (November 26) directed the authorities concerned to provide alternate accommodations for people living in illegally-constructed houses and settlements along nullahs prior to commencing with the encroachment drive in the city, a news source reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also said that these encroachments were responsible for major losses caused during the monsoon every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawada, and Advisor to PM on Finance and Revenue Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PM was informed that 100 projects amounting to PKR 1.117 trillion will be completed under the Karachi Transformation Plan. Commenting on the development, the PM said that the redressal of the city\u2019s problems on a sustainable basis is as important as the timely completion of these projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
