The lag in the number of returns is associated with the ongoing second wave of COVID-19, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in a bid to facilitate the taxpayers (who couldn\u2019t file their returns), the board has issued directives to all Inland Revenue field formations to establish <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/fbr-offices-establish-help-desk-applications-extend-deadline-filing-returns.html\" target=\"_blank\">help desks<\/a> to receive manual requests for the extension in filing income tax returns. Moreover, it was highlighted that one request for extension addressed to the chief commissioner Inland Revenue could cover multiple taxpayers.
