Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC<\/a>) has ordered a stay on the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project \u2014 currently being developed by the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) \u2014 till it approves the project\u2019s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report, according to a news source published on January 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the LHC \u2014 which was presided over by Justice Shahid Karim \u2014 asked the government to file a compliance report that proved that all environmental protection measures were implemented in the development of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP). The Justice had previously also sought reports from both the provincial and federal bodies regarding the compliance of environmental regulations in the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
