Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Sunday inaugurated the \u2018Al-Beruni Radius\u2019 project in a bid to rehabilitate heritage and tourism sites in Jhelum, a news source reported on February 28. The initiative is part of the government\u2019s efforts to preserve Pakistan\u2019s cultural and historical landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister emphasized the need to preserve all heritage and tourism sites, stating that his government was making all-possible efforts to promote tourism and create job opportunities for the country\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Ahmad Chaudhry, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Punjab Chief Minister (CMP) Usman Buzdar, and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prime minister also announced the government\u2019s decision to transform Baghan Wala into a modern village. He stated that other facilities planned for the uplift of tourism in Jhelum include hotels, restaurants, and link roads (between GT Road and Motorway).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, SAPM Bukhari said that the departments concerned had prepared the PC-I for the said tourism initiative. He added that the blueprint envisaged the development of parks and a 116-kilometre-long road, and an educational campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the government plans to develop a heritage trail in a bid to connect the historical Nandana Fort (situated in tehsil Pind Dadan Khan of district Jhelum) and six other heritage sites.
