Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has announced its decision to launch construction of two rainwater harvesting <\/a>projects at different locations of the provincial capital in the coming month, according to a news report published on March 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said project is being executed on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar with an aim to preserve large quantities of rainwater and use it for watering plants, parks and other irrigation purposes. Previously, a similar project was launched at Lawrence Road and now two more projects are being launched at Kashmir Road (near LDA Plaza) and outside Sheranwala Gate Circular Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said tanks will have the capacity of preserving 1.2 million gallons and 1.5 million gallons respectively and are being developed at a cost of PKR 240 million. Reportedly, WASA has already completed feasibility studies for these projects and will soon invite tenders for the construction work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WASA sources have revealed that the said projects are being launched under a phased programme \u2013 while eight more places in the city will be highlighted for similar projects in the coming year.
