The MoU was signed by the Karachi administrator, Laeeq Ahmed and UNDP Pakistan Resident Representative Knut Ostby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this agreement, Karachi has become the second municipality after Istanbul to enter such an agreement with UNDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/urgent-release-of-karachi-package-funds-demanded.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">City Council demands urgent release of Karachi Package funds<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the details, UNDP will work with KMC\u2019s various departments such as Parks and Horticulture Department, for achieving targets outlined under Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 15: Life on Land. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While development will primarily focus economic growth, urban development, environmental improvement, infrastructure development, solid waste management, health and education. Special focus is being given to addressing environmental pollution and tree plantation will be given its due importance in the city.
