Karachi: <\/strong>A Chinese bus manufacturing company Zhongtong has received an order to provide 100 new buses for Karachi\u2019s Orange and Green Line Bus Rapid Transit, according to a news source. The BRT project is expected to become operational by the end of August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a tweet shared by the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, the prototype bus has been built in China exclusively for the BRT project. Once the prototype is approved, their manufacturing process will begin. The minister expressed hopes that 80 of these units will reach Pakistan by July or August and be added to the BRT fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 18-meter long buses will travel on Orange and Green BRT projects providing the residents of the city with much needed and quality transport service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green Line BRT project in Karachi is the largest metro bus project being developed with the support of federal government. The project started in 2016 and upon its completion, it will facilitate over 300,000 people on average on daily basis. The BRT route has 25 stations and a total length 24km out of which 12.7km is elevated, 10.9km is at grade level, while 422 meters of the track is underground.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
