Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) have jointly initiated survey of Margalla Road before formally starting construction work to widen and complete the road project, a news source reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey is expected to complete within 10 days, followed by the commencement of construction work by FWO. The joint survey is part of the project without which work can not begin, said the CDA engineer department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, CDA invited tenders from interested firms for the construction work which was later cancelled by the federal cabinet. Recently, the Margalla Road project \u2013 which is being executed with a cost estimate of PKR 970 million \u2013 was awarded to FWO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new project will now consist of two phases, and an additional 10-kilometre-long road to connect G T Road (Sangjani) up to Satra Meel Murree Road bypassing Bhara Kahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the CDA released project details showing that the first phase will start from Sangjani to D-12 while the second phase, will start from D-12 to the constitutional avenue with Khayaban-i-Iqbal serving as a link between the east and west part of Margalla<\/a> road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources also confirmed the previous groundwork by the former contractor to be included in the construction work before moving to the second phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project approved and inaugurated by prime minister is expected to bring relief in the traffic flow for the citizens of the capital and other parts of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
