{"id":76936,"date":"2021-06-11T18:41:30","date_gmt":"2021-06-11T13:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/?p=76936"},"modified":"2021-06-11T18:50:35","modified_gmt":"2021-06-11T13:50:35","slug":"budget-2021-22-national-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/budget-2021-22-national-assembly.html","title":{"rendered":"Budget 2021-22 presented in National Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Islamabad: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, today, presented a growth-oriented budget with an outlay of PKR 8,400 billion at the National Assembly, according to media sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/budget-cpec-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Budget 2021-22: PKR 87bn allocated for CPEC projects<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The salient features of the budget 2021-22 are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>PKR 244 billion for Gwadar airport and highway.<\/li><li>PKR 20 for development of south Balochistan<\/li><li>PKR 47 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan<\/li><li>PKR 60 billion for Azad Jammu and Kashmir<\/li><li>PKR 739 for Karachi transformation plan<\/li><li>PKR 12billion for agriculture<\/li><li>PKR 260 billion for the Ehsaas programme<\/li><li>PKR 900 billion for public sector development programmes, which has been increased by 40%. The amount will be spent on water distribution, road infrastructure, special economic zones, combatting climate change, among other projects<\/li><li>PKR14 billion for Neelum-Jhelum hydro-power plant<\/li><li>PKR 118 billion for energy and power projects<\/li><li>PKR 25 billion for small dams in Sindh<\/li><li>PKR 23 billion for Diamer and Bhasha dams<\/li><li>PKR 10b for Kamyab Naujawan programme<\/li><li>PKR 22 billion for Jamshoro coal power plant<\/li><li>PKR 16 billion for KI, KII projects in Karachi and Tarbela power plant<\/li><li>PKR 54 billion for the development of KP\u2019s merged districts<\/li><li>PKR 14 billion for tree plantation programmes and combatting climate change<\/li><li>PKR 100billion for special development packages for the development of poorer cities<\/li><li>PKR 1.1 billion for the procurement of coronavirus vaccines to meet the target of vaccinating 100 million people by June 2022<\/li><li>PKR 100 billion for a covid-19 emergency fund<\/li><li>PKR 66 billion for HEC and education programmes<\/li><li>PKR 12 billion for SME support programmes<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other prominent features are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The minimum wage to be PKR 20,000.<\/li><li>No new tax on salaried people.<\/li><li>Pension to increase by 10%.<\/li><li>For Grade 1 to 5 officers, integrated allowance to increase from PKR 450 to PKR 900.<\/li><li>Salaries of the government employees to increase by 10%.<\/li><li>Special technology zones will be formed in the country. Plants, machinery, and other equipment will be tax-free in these zones.<\/li><li>FBR to form special retail cells to facilitate people.<\/li><li>Action to be taken against those harassing taxpayers. Government to use tax machinery against those not paying taxes and those not filing them.<\/li><li>Withholding tax reduced by 40%. There will be no withholding taxes on banking transactions, margin financing, air travel services, debit card and credit transactions and discovery of minerals.<\/li><li>Withholding tax on mobile phones will be reduced by 10%, and then to 8%.<\/li><li>The government has reduced the Capital Gain Tax from 15% to 12.5%.<\/li><li>No federal excise duty on 850cc locally produced cars.<\/li><li>Sales tax on locally manufactured cars reduced from 17% to 12.5%.<\/li><li>Sales tax on locally made electric cars has been reduced to 1% from 17%.<\/li><li>No tax on certain locally made heavy motorcycles.<\/li><li>No import taxes on books and magazines.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/cda-board-approves-budget-for-fy-2021-22.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDA Board approves budget for FY 2021-22<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>No Customs duty on animal vaccines.<\/li><li>To facilitate the tourism sector, there will be either 0% Customs duty or discount on raw material being used in the sector.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, today, presented a growth-oriented budget with an outlay of PKR 8,400 billion at the National Assembly, according to media sources.
