Islamabad: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO)<\/a> has removed the ban on new power supply connections and has requested data from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on acquired and unacquired land, news sources reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The order was issued by the CDA on June 22, which corresponds to the order issued by the National Assembly secretariat on May 24. However, the electricity connection offer will not be extended to the houses built in illegal housing schemes. Previously, the CDA imposed a ban on the new connection until the building plans were approved by the authority\u2019s no-objection certification (NOC) letter in 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the civic authority has been facing issues in providing building plan approvals due to regulatory problems in some areas (including that owned by private owners and unattended by the authority), which has been causing problems for many years. As per the latest development, aside from the approved housing schemes, the new connections will only be offered in areas where LESCO already has a network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to available information, Islamabad has a total area of 51,000 acres, of which 31,000 acres are part of the Margalla Hills National Park.
