{"id":77444,"date":"2021-06-29T14:21:51","date_gmt":"2021-06-29T09:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/?p=77444"},"modified":"2021-06-29T14:21:56","modified_gmt":"2021-06-29T09:21:56","slug":"realignment-rawalpindi-ring-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/realignment-rawalpindi-ring-road.html","title":{"rendered":"Realignment of Rawalpindi Ring Road deemed nonviable"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Rawalpindi: In light of the recent proposal of the revival of the old route for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) and abandonment of the new road project alignment, concerns are being raised about the non-viability of the project, as per news sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/rawalpindi-ring-road-project.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018Rawalpindi Ring Road project has been approved\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A public official stated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/rawalpindi-ring-road-excluded-adp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ring road project<\/a> was originally aimed to divert heavy traffic flow from the twin cities and the old proposed route would defeat this purpose. It was revealed that old route is essentially a bypass and it will enable loaded heavy traffic to pass through the Islamabad Expressway\/ I J Principal Road, as their axle load will require them to not use the ring road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was also revealed that since the Punjab government has already paid PKR 2.3 billion to landowners whose land has been required for RRR and cancellation of the allotment will make the funds\u2019 retrieval complicated.
