Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) technical body on Monday approved the PC-1 of three Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) to stop the contamination of the Rawal Dam, news sources reported. The 9.62 million gallon daily (MGD) capacity treatment plants will cost PKR 3.97 billion, with the federal government funding 64% of the total and the Punjab government funding 34%. The decision was made in response to Rawal Dam water pollution caused by untreated sewage water from illegal and unregistered housing societies in the city. The approved PC-1 will be presented to the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) after being submitted to the Punjab Development Commission.
