Islamabad: The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong on Thursday announced that the 10th meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will take place on July 13, 2021, according to news sources. The ambassador made the announcement at the concluding session of the conference titled, \u2018Pakistan-China At 70: Vision for the Future\u2019. The event was organised by the Pakistan-China Institute (PCI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, the 9th JCC meeting took place in November 2019, while the 10th meeting has seen delays of 4 months. The delay has reportedly been due to certain differences<\/a> over finalisation of the agenda for ML-1 project, China\u2019s financial commitments in Gwadar, and the roadmap for industrial cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last three JCC which were held every year since 2017 but no approval for any new projects was issued during these meeting. These meetings mainly focused on the completion and development of the existing and ongoing projects, including the development of more special economic zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the ambassador also said that the active projects are focused on helping Pakistan transform its economy and usher in a new era of urbanisation, digitisation and industrialisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In another development, CPEC Authority Chairman retired Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa urged Singapore businessmen to set up in SEZs in Gawadar and leverage Pakistan’s commercial potential. The chairman was speaking during a webinar titled “investment opportunities in SEZs developed under the CPEC initiative,” which was organised by Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Singapore in collaboration with China’s ambassador to Singapore on Thursday (July 8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chairman also stated that the huge workforce and inexpensive labour force are the primary drivers and attractions for investors, from which Singapore can profit and play a role in the growth in industrial and science and technology sectors<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
