The authorities are hopeful to complete the expansion, renovation and remodelling of the Defence Chowk in one year after initiation of development work. Defence Chowk\u2019s remodelling will ease traffic congestion in Rawalpindi by providing a signal-free route to the traffic heading to and from the city to GT Road.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the details shared by the Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Revenue Adnan Chaudhary, the project has been made part of the provincial Annual Development Programme for 2021-22. In addition to that, he revealed that funds have been reserved for the project. He thanked Punjab Chief Minister for the approval and issuance of funds for remodelling of Defence Chowk, Rawalpindi.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/rawalpindi-ring-road-pc-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rawalpindi Ring Road PC-1 sent for approval<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in November 2020, National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) finalised and presented the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/design-feasibility-study-finalised-making-defence-chowk-signal-free.html\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"72119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">design and feasibility report <\/a>of the project before the concerned authorities. As per the statistics shared in this report, the Defense Chowk is utilised by as many as 138,414 vehicles on a daily basis, leading to an increase in traffic jams.
