It was informed that 43 nullahs of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and 514 nullahs of District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) have been cleaned to prevent urban flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/kmc-to-clear-gujjar-nullah-of-encroachments.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KMC to clear Gujjar Nullah of encroachments, turn it into model stormwater drain<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting on monsoon preparatory, a spokesperson stated that all the checking points have been cleared. Also, the three major nullahs Gujjar, Korangi, and Mahmoodabad have been cleared. Only a few points are left where work is in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, Advisor Law Murtaza Wahab, Inspector General (IG) Police Mushtaq Maher, Syed Nasir Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Alamuddin Bullo, Managing Director (MD) Water Board Asadullah Khan, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Managing Director (MD) Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority (SSWMA) Zubair Channa, Administration KMC Laiq Ahmed, and other concerned officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chief minister ordered the head of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/kmc-kwsb-sswmb-to-join-forces-for-clearing-stagnant-water-in-karachi.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> local bodies<\/a> and district administration to visit the areas to ensure work is properly carried out. He further directed the finance department to release funds to meet the rain emergency expenditure. Moreover, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah directed to cancel leaves of all employees of police, local bodies, district administration, and other relevant staff. He also ordered the chief secretary to set up a Rain-Emergency Cell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was informed that the persistent rain might lead to waterlogging in the low lying areas of Karachi, Badin, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Nawabshah, Thatta, and Dadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Sindh Minister for Rehabilitation Faraz Dero informed the chief minister that Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) started the pre-monsoon preparation in February 2021. De-watering pumps have been provided to the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs).
