Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday (September 20) announced that a plan to tap the iron reserves in Kalabagh and Chiniot is in the final stages, according to news sources. Soon, <\/a>investment for the programme will be sought, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prime minister revealed this information as he presided over a meeting to discuss the development of mineral resources of the country. He ordered the officials concerned to complete the mineral development programme as soon as possible. PM Khan further added that the country has a huge scope for investment in the mineral sector. He went on to say that it is a top priority of the incumbent government to exploit the mineral resources of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meeting, it was disclosed that the programme was designed keeping in view the issues faced by the sector. It was informed that Pakistan has an abundance of deposits of mineral resources including gypsum, copper, granite, limestone, chromite, iron, silver, gold, silica sand, salt, china clay, lead, marble<\/a>, emerald, sandstone, aquamarine, ruby, tourmaline, and sapphire stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
