Islamabad: Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Sunday (October 03) assured Diamer-Bhasha dam workers and the contractors of a safe and secure environment <\/a>for the development work, news sources reported. The USD 14 billion project will have an 8.1 million acre feet (MAF) of water storing capacity and would generate 4,500 MW of electricity. The project is expected to be complete by 2028-29.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his visit to the project site, Lt General Shamshad was also accompanied by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman (retired) Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain. As per the sources, the delegate was briefed on the construction pace including infrastructure development work on the project’s eight locations.\u00a0The meeting was informed that construction work was underway on 8 sites simultanouly, including development of access roads, permanent access bridge across the Indus River downstream of the main dam, 21 megawatts Tangir hydropower project, dam support excavation from the top, diversion tunnel and canal, diversion inlet, and power intake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
