But aside from the government\u2019s political aims, I believe the improvement of road networks always goes in the favour of the people of Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s discuss the Karachi-Lahore Motorway project. PML-N has been trying to win the hearts of the people for a long time by vowing to extend Pakistan\u2019s Motorway from Lahore to Karachi, but bureaucratic red-tape and manipulation had been pushing the project to the back. Fairly recently, the National Highway Authority (NHA) had been facing trouble in getting a piece of land reserved for the highway, which was leased out to third parties by the Sindh Government. Apparently, the matter has now been resolved because the NHA has given the go-ahead for construction to begin on the Karachi-Lahore Motorway.<\/p>\n<p>The approval for the commencement of work on the Motorway project was given yesterday (June 18, 2014) by NHA\u2019s executive board. During the board\u2019s meeting, NHA Chairman Mr Shahid Ashraf Tarrar gave directions to increase NHA\u2019s revenue through toll plazas and also stated that the contracts for toll plazas would be awarded through bidding.<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, we should appreciate this move no matter whether we support the PML-N or not, because in the end, it\u2019s about the development of our country.
