Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Thursday (November 04) announced legislation on Rent Control Act for Islamabad in an upcoming joint session of Parliament, news sources reported. The amendments will be made in the Rent Restriction Ordinance 2001<\/a> to address the problems and concerns of traders.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at an event in Islamabad, the minister stated that the approval of the legislation by parliament will address a long-standing demand of the capital city’s traders while also protecting the rights of renters and landlords. The traders notified the minister that under the previous legislation, traders and businesses were forcibly evicted, which had a negative impact on their businesses. Furthermore, the minister of planning stated that the government is implementing emergency measures to address the city’s parking situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
